Market Development Assistance Scheme (MDA) administered by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, provides financial support to approved tourism service providers for

undertaking promotional activities in the domestic and international markets. The scheme is aimed at creating a market access for Indian tourism products and improving the awareness and image of India as a tourist destination.

The scheme provides financial assistance of up to 50% of the total cost (subject to a maximum of Rs. 5 lakhs) for undertaking approved promotional activities such as attending tourism fairs and exhibitions, attending workshops, seminars, conferences, conducting familiarization trips, conducting research and surveys, etc.

The main objectives of the MDA scheme are to:

1. Enhance the visibility and marketability of India as a tourist destination in the domestic and international markets.

2. Increase the number of tourist arrivals to India.

3. Promote the development of tourism infrastructure and services.

4. Foster and promote responsible tourism.

5. Enhance the awareness and image of India as a tourist destination.

6. Facilitate the growth of Indian tourism products in the global market.
