DR Big Band opens 2027 with its beloved New Year concert tradition, bringing together the ensemble, chief conductor Miho Hazama, and special guest Cécile McLorin Salvant for an afternoon of vocal virtuosity and jazz excellence in Koncertsalen.
Cécile McLorin Salvant, the American jazz vocalist who has earned three Grammy Awards and twice as many nominations, returns as the band's New Year guest. She has previously captivated audiences and critics alike at DR Koncerthuset, with Politiken calling her "a genius" and drawing comparisons to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Billie Holiday.
Joining Salvant is her regular pianist Sullivan Fortner. The programme spans jazz classics, timeless pop hits, and original material by Salvant herself. Miho Hazama leads the ensemble and has arranged a portion of the evening's repertoire.
