About

Perfekt erhaltene frühchristliche Kirche, erbaut zwischen dem 7. und 12. Jahrhundert in Trockensteinbauweise. Eines der schönsten Beispiele früher kirchlicher Architektur Irlands.

The Gallarus Oratory is a small stone church on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland, in the townland of Gallarus near Ballyferriter. It is also known in Irish as Séipéilín Ghallarais. The building is made of dry stone, laid without mortar, and it has survived largely intact over a long period, which is what makes it notable to visitors.

The site is described as an early Christian church, dating from somewhere between the 7th and 12th centuries. It is considered one of Ireland's finest examples of early ecclesiastical architecture. Its stone roof and corbelled construction give it a sense of quiet solidity, and standing inside it is a striking way to see how early builders worked with local stone.
