About
HYKLERNE: Fraud, Love and Bitcoins is a theatre performance at Betty Nansen Teatret in Copenhagen, Denmark. Directed by Niels Erling, with a text by Madame Nielsen, it is a very free modern adaptation of Molière's Tartuffe, the seventeenth-century comedy about deception and the question of who the real hypocrite is.
What to expect
The production is a large-scale ensemble piece. It moves Molière's story into the present day, following scams, crypto romance, debt and what is sometimes called the loneliness economy. It also touches on money and global inequality, so the evening is as much about how we trust and are taken in as it is about a single plot.
