About
Buena Vista Orchestra comes to the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, Canada, on October 30, 2026. It is a concert, and the evening is built around Cuban music in the style of Havana's long musical tradition.
What the evening offers
The programme draws on three forms that shaped Cuban popular music:
- Son, the rhythmic, conversational style at the root of much Cuban dance music
- Bolero, slower and more romantic, with a melodic, singing quality
- Mambo, brisk and brassy, built for dancing
The ensemble aims to recreate the golden era of Cuban sound, performing the music with care and a sense of warmth. Visitors who enjoy Latin music will find the set list suited to both listening closely and moving along.
The venue and the visit
The Vogue Theatre is a concert venue in Vancouver, so the evening suits anyone already in the city or planning a night out there. A theatre setting tends to favour attentive listening, while the music itself invites a more lively response. Plan your evening around the performance, and allow time to settle in before the music starts.
If you are new to Cuban music, this concert is an accessible way in. The three styles offer a clear range, from the intimacy of bolero to the energy of mambo, all heard in one evening.
