About

A hands-on creative workshop for children aged 2 to 5 at the Site archéologique Lattara, inspired by telline-shell decorations discovered at Lattara, organised by Association Acanthe as part of European Heritage Days 2026.

Association Acanthe, from the Master's programme in Heritage Promotion and Mediation at the University Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3, invites young children to take part in a playful heritage workshop at the Musée Henri Prades as part of European Heritage Days 2026.

Inspired by the telline-shell floor decorations discovered at Lattara — depicting a moving horse — the workshop titled "Tellines and Toddlers" encourages children aged 2 to 5 to express their creativity. Participants choose an image of a horse, fish, or bird, echoing the ancient decorations found at Lattes, and then follow pre-drawn outlines, pressing small marine shells onto the surface to recreate motifs similar to those unearthed at the site.

Tellines are small marine shells commonly found along the Languedoc coastline. Under parental supervision, children use them as the primary material for a playful and heritage-inspired artwork.

The workshop takes place on Saturday 19 September 2026 from 10:45 to 11:15. For more information, visit https://associationacanthe.wordpress.com/ or https://museearcheo.montpellier3m.fr/.
