About

Abdullah Miniawy, the Egyptian singer and poet known for his work with Le Cri du Caire, presents a trio performance alongside trombonists Robinson Khoury and Jules Boittin. The unconventional combination of three tenor-register instruments — voice and two trombones — creates a remarkable sonic landscape.

The programme, titled Peacock Dreams, weaves together an eclectic range of influences: Baroque and operatic traditions, Sufi and Coptic themes, and musical motifs from the Arabian Peninsula, all coloured by the jazz-inflected cacophony of Egyptian city life. The result bridges Western and Eastern musical worlds in a deeply lyrical and bold way.

The concert takes place at the Théâtre Jean-Claude Carrière in Montpellier on Sunday 20 September 2026 at 16:30, as part of Festival Arabesques. Tickets and further information are available at the festival's official website.
