About
Mercredizm: AfroVizyon DJ Set is a vinyl-focused DJ set held in the café of Halle Tropisme in Montpellier, in the Occitania region of France. It takes place on Wednesday 18 November at 19:30.
The evening
The set is played by AfroVizyon, a new Montpellier collective made up of three DJs: SSCK, ANDAO and GONG. What unites them is a love of Afro-descendant music and of vinyl records, and their aim is to take listeners on a musical journey through Afro-diasporic cultures.
Their selections move across a wide range of styles, from collector rarities to recent releases. Expect rhythms that include Kompa, Cadence, Afro-Funk, Semba, Gwoka, Afrobeat, Latin House, Salsa, Soukous, Loketo, Dancehall, Boogie and Hip Hop.
Who it suits
- Listeners who enjoy vinyl and the particular warmth of records played on turntables
- Anyone curious about Afro-Caribbean and African diaspora music, from older styles to newer releases
- Visitors who want a relaxed, social evening in a café rather than a large club night
