About

Manoir Regency avec intérieurs restaurés et 27 acres de jardins présentant des plantes et arbres rares. Construit dans les années 1820 pour la famille Smith-Barry.

Fota House and Gardens sits on Fota Island at Carrigtwohill, in County Cork, Ireland. It is a Regency mansion set within its own estate, and it is known locally as Fota Estate. The house was built in the 1820s for the Smith-Barry family, and visitors come to see both the restored interiors and the grounds around it.

The house

The mansion is a good example of Regency architecture, and its rooms have been restored. A visit to the house gives a sense of how the family lived in the period it was built, with the rooms set out for the visitor to walk through at their own pace.

The gardens

The gardens cover 27 acres and feature rare plants and trees. For many visitors, the grounds are the main reason to come. They suit a slow walk, a picnic or a few hours outdoors, whatever the weather allows.
