About
This double-bill evening brings together two distinct musical worlds under one roof. Joël Lavoie opens with 'Fragilités', a 25-minute solo performance built from long-held sound fragments — at times distorted, at times delicate — that trace a path through hazy memories and unrealised desires. The piece functions as a kind of personal closure, drawing on more than two decades of musical wandering.
Following Lavoie, the trio LiY — composed of Laurence Dauphinais, Simon Stephens, and Christian Lapointe — performs 'Songs for Telescope'. Their sound is described as post-trip hop electro clash, evoking cosmic themes and drawing comparisons to Portishead, Austra, The Knife, Spiritualized, Brutal Truth, PJ Harvey, and Björk. The name LiY comes from 'Live into Yours', a phrase inscribed on the golden record sent into space in 1977.
LiY's live set is enriched by a collaboration with visual artist Sabrina Ratté, who contributes video projections, and singer Mykalle Bielinski, who provides backing vocals. Together, the performance aims to evoke the tension between nostalgia and hope, and the fragile desire to hold on to life.
The performance takes place without seating. Audiences are advised to plan accordingly for a standing experience.
