On Friday 23 October 2026, Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen joins forces with students from the Royal Danish Academy of Music (DKDM) for a concert titled "From Nielsen to Now" at the Studio Hall of DKDM in Frederiksberg. The programme runs from 17:00 to 18:15.
The programme opens with a new work by Asli Emre, followed by Vagn Holmboe's "Preludes for Sinfoniettas: To a Dolphin". Per Nørgård is represented by two pieces — "Without jealousy (A Tortoise's Tango)" and "Esperanza" — and Anders Nordentoft's "Entgegen" is also featured.
The concert closes with Carl Nielsen's Symphony No. 6, fourth movement, in an arrangement by Hans Abrahamsen — a fitting conclusion to a programme tracing the arc of Danish composition from Nielsen's legacy to the present day.
The ensemble is conducted by conducting students from RDAM, making this a double showcase of emerging talent alongside the established Athelas Sinfonietta. The event is presented in collaboration with Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen.
