About

Gabriel Dharmoo and NO HAY BANDA present 'Sugar Music,' a multidisciplinary performance blending music and theatre that critically examines the systems governing what we listen to, drawing a provocative parallel between hyper-consumption in food culture and in music.

Sugar Music is a multidisciplinary performance created by Gabriel Dharmoo and NO HAY BANDA that draws a bold parallel between the food industry and the music industry. Just as processed food is engineered for profit and mass consumption at the expense of quality, the show argues that much of today's music landscape operates under similar forces — optimised for virality and corporate gain rather than genuine nourishment.

The performance invites audiences to listen more critically, treating music the way conscious eaters treat food: by examining its ingredients, its origins, and its effects. Head-nodding pop, conceptually rich melodies, and raw sonic experimentation are presented as acts of resistance — a tasting menu for the ears with social, political, and cultural stakes.

Sugar Music runs from Monday, April 19 to Friday, April 23, 2027, at La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines, 3700 rue Saint-Dominique, Montreal (Quebec). Performances begin at 19:30.

Tickets are available through Tuxedo Billet via the link on the La Chapelle website.
