What are the traditional festivals in Laos?

1. Bun Pi Mai (New Year Festival): Held in April each year, this festival is celebrated with water throwing, traditional music and dancing, and merit-making.

2. Boun Khao Padap Din (Rice Planting Festival): This festival is celebrated in May or June, and celebrates the beginning of the rice-planting season.

3. Boun Ok Pansa (Buddhist Lent Festival): Held in July or August, this festival celebrates the end of the Buddhist Lent period.

4. That Luang Festival: Held in November, this festival celebrates the most important temple in Vientiane.

5. Boun Bang Fai (Rocket Festival): Celebrated in May or June, this festival honors the god of rain, with participants launching rockets into the sky in the hopes of bringing much-needed rain.

6. Boun Suang Heua (Boat Racing Festival): Held in October, this festival celebrates the river with boat races, music, and dancing.
