What should we know about the village of Saint Guilhem le Désert?

Saint Guilhem le Désert is a commune in the Herault department of southern France. It is located in the Hérault gorges, near the famous Pont du Diable. It is known for its historical monuments and its scenic landscapes, which have earned it the label of one of the "most beautiful villages of France". The village is home to the famous Abbey of Gellone, founded by William of Orange in 804, as well as the Chapel of Saint Guilhem. There are also many cultural and archaeological sites in the area, such as the old castle of the Viscounts of Melgueil and the museum of Prehistory of the Cevennes.
