Macchu Picchu and Cuzco are associated with the Inca Empire and their ancient civilization. The ruins of Machu Picchu are located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, just outside of Cuzco, and were once the spiritual and political center of the Inca Empire. Cuzco was the capital of the Inca Empire and is now considered the archeological capital of the Americas.
