About

前Hiroshima县产业奖励馆的骨架遗迹,作为和平的象征和原子弹爆炸的纪念而被保存下来。

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial, also known as the A-Bomb Dome or Genbaku Dome, stands in the Naka Ward of Hiroshima, in the Chugoku Region of Japan. It is the skeletal remains of the former Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, left standing and preserved as a symbol of peace and as a reminder of the atomic bombing of the city.

What to expect

The building is a monument rather than a museum, so a visit is brief and quiet. Its bare brick walls and iron framework are the whole of the structure, and seeing them in person is what gives the place its weight. Many visitors walk around the dome slowly, read the information provided nearby, and take a moment to reflect before moving on.

  • Kind of visit: an outdoor monument, best experienced on foot
  • Address: 1-10 Otemachi, Naka Ward, Hiroshima, 730-0051, Japan

Around the memorial

The dome is part of a wider area in central Hiroshima devoted to peace and remembrance, so it pairs naturally with other stops nearby. Visitors often combine a visit here with time in the surrounding city, which offers a range of places to eat, rest and explore. Planning a route in advance can help you make the most of a day in the area.
