About

保存完好的古希腊城市,建在梯田式山坡上,景色壮观。拥有可追溯到公元前7世纪的集市广场、剧场和神庙遗迹。

Lato Ancient City is a heritage site in the Lasithi region of Greece, near the village of Kritsa. It is also known as Ancient Lato or Lato Etera. The city was built on terraced hillsides, and its layout still follows the slopes, so a visit is as much about walking the land as it is about looking at individual ruins.

What you will see

The site preserves several parts of an ancient Greek city. Visitors can explore the remains of an agora, the open public space where people once gathered, along with a theatre and the remains of a temple. The city dates back to the 7th century BC, and the surviving stonework gives a clear sense of how it was organised.

  • An agora, the civic centre of the city
  • A theatre built into the hillside
  • Temple remains from the 7th century BC
  • Terraced ground with wide views across the surrounding countryside

Planning your visit

Lato suits visitors who enjoy archaeology and quiet walks. The terraces involve some uphill ground, so comfortable footwear is worth bringing. The views are a large part of the appeal, and they are particularly good for anyone who wants to see how the city related to its landscape.

The site is in Kritsa, a village in the Lasithi area of Crete, and it makes a natural stop for those already exploring the region. To check current arrangements before you go, you can call the site on +30 28410 51274.
