About

13世纪堡垒,因收藏世界上最大的中世纪挂毯套组《启示录挂毯》而闻名。拥有巨大的圆形塔楼和保存完好的城墙。

The Château d'Angers stands above the River Maine in the city of Angers, in the Pays de la Loire region of western France. Its address is 2 Promenade du Bout du Monde. Known also as the Château des Ducs d'Anjou or the Castle of Angers, it is a fortress built in the 13th century, and its massive round towers and well-preserved ramparts still give it a commanding presence on the skyline.

What to see

The castle's best-known feature is the Apocalypse Tapestry, the largest medieval tapestry ensemble in the world. It is displayed inside the castle, and visitors come to see it above all else. Walking the walls and towers gives a sense of the fortress's scale and of how it was built to be defended.

Planning a visit

  • Setting: The castle sits in the historic heart of Angers, so the town's streets, churches and riverside are easy to combine with your visit.
  • Type of visit: A good choice for those interested in medieval history, art and architecture, and for anyone who enjoys walking along old fortifications.
  • Contact: You can reach the castle by telephone at +33 2 41 86 48 77 to check current arrangements before you go.

Allow time both for the tapestry and for the ramparts, and consider spending the rest of your day exploring the town around the castle.
