About

位于Torres del Paine国家公园的巨大冰川,是南巴塔哥尼亚冰原的一部分。游客可以乘船近距离观赏冰川壮观的冰层结构。

Grey Glacier, also known as Glaciar Grey, is a large glacier in Torres del Paine National Park in the Magallanes Region of southern Chile. It forms part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, one of the largest bodies of ice outside the polar regions, and it is a striking sight for anyone travelling through this part of Patagonia.

What to expect

The glacier is best experienced from the water. Boat trips run out onto the lake at its face, bringing visitors close to the ice and its sculpted formations. From the deck you can see the glacier's broad, pale expanse and the blue tones of the ice up close, which is far more affecting than viewing it from a distance.

  • Boat excursions to the glacier front, the main way to see the ice closely
  • Views across the lake and the surrounding mountain landscape of the national park
  • A natural setting well suited to photography and quiet appreciation

Planning your visit

Grey Glacier lies within Torres del Paine National Park, so it fits naturally into a wider trip to the park, which is known for its mountains, lakes and open Patagonian scenery. Boat trips are the way most visitors reach the ice, so check with a local operator or the park before you go. For further details, you can call +56 61 2691931.

Because the glacier sits in a remote and protected area, you should come prepared for changeable weather, with layers and waterproof clothing. Allow time to take in the surroundings as well as the ice, since the journey and the lake views are part of the experience.
