About

巴西最大的国家公园,覆盖超过230万公顷的原始亚马逊雨林,保护着整个Jaú河流域。

Jaú National Park, known in Portuguese as Parque Nacional do Jaú, is a protected area of Amazon rainforest in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. It lies near the town of Novo Airão and is the largest national park in the country, covering over 2.3 million hectares. Its boundaries take in the entire basin of the Jaú River, so a visit is as much about water and forest as about land.

What a visit is like

The park is a place for travellers who want to see undisturbed rainforest on a large scale. Its size means that most visitors will experience only a part of it, and the setting rewards slow exploration: the sound of birds and insects, the dark water of the river system, and the dense green canopy that defines the region.

Because the park protects the whole river basin, the landscape is shaped by water. Trips here are usually taken with that in mind, and the surrounding waterways are central to how the area is seen.

The area around it

  • Novo Airão, the nearby town, is the usual base for reaching the park and gives visitors a place to stay and plan their days.
  • The town sits within the state of Amazonas, so a visit can be combined with other experiences of the Amazon region.
  • The park's remoteness means that arranging a visit ahead of time is sensible.

For details on arranging a visit, the park can be contacted by telephone at +55-97-3365-1516.
