About

一处壮观的观景点,可以俯瞰蜿蜒的Sulphur Creek穿过800英尺下方的白色砂岩,景色十分壮丽。这里是Capitol Reef National Park最受摄影师青睐的地点之一。

Goosenecks Overlook sits within Capitol Reef National Park, near Torrey in southern Utah. It is a viewpoint rather than a built attraction: a place to stand at the edge of the land and look down at the landscape below. It is also known as the Goosenecks of Sulphur Creek.

The view

From the overlook, Sulphur Creek can be seen winding through white sandstone roughly 800 feet below. The stream bends back on itself again and again, cutting a path through the rock in the looping shape that gives the place its name. The contrast between the pale stone, the green thread of the creek and the open sky is what draws most visitors, and it is one of the most photographed spots in the park.

What a visit is like

  • It suits a short stop. The overlook itself is a single vantage point, so most people come to look, take photographs and move on.
  • It works well alongside a wider day in the park, since it sits within the national park's boundaries and fits among its other scenic stops.
  • The drop is steep and the edge is open, so it is worth keeping children close and staying well back from the rim.
