About
Kunsthal Rotterdam is a contemporary art museum on the Westzeedijk in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. It is also known simply as The Kunsthal. The building was designed by the architect Rem Koolhaas, and its architecture is as much a part of the visit as the art inside it.
What to expect
The museum does not keep a permanent collection. Instead, it hosts a changing programme of temporary exhibitions, so what you see on one visit may be quite different from the next. This suits visitors who enjoy discovering new work and who like to return to a familiar building with fresh eyes.
- A contemporary art museum with rotating exhibitions across a range of themes and practices
- A building by Rem Koolhaas, known for its inventive design
- No permanent collection, so the programme is the main reason to visit
