About
Iguazu National Park, also known as Parque Nacional Iguazú, lies in Misiones Province in northeastern Argentina, close to the town of Puerto Iguazú. It protects the famous Iguazu Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's most striking waterfall systems, made up of more than 275 individual falls.
What a visit is like
The park is a place to walk slowly and look. Paths and viewpoints take you along the edge of the falls, where the water drops in curtains of different widths and heights, and where spray hangs in the air around you. Because the falls are spread over a wide area, the experience changes with every viewpoint, so it is worth allowing a full day rather than rushing from one overlook to the next.

Puerto Iguazú itself is the natural base for a visit, offering places to stay, eat and arrange onward travel. Since the falls are the main reason to come, it is sensible to check current arrangements with the park directly before you set out.
Around the park
Many visitors combine the falls with time in the surrounding subtropical forest, which is part of what the park protects. The Misiones landscape, with its river setting and the town of Puerto Iguazú nearby, makes a relaxed counterpoint to the power of the water.
