About

以其壮丽的峡湾、冰川和丰富的海洋生物而闻名,包括逆戟鲸、海狮和海雀。Harding Icefield覆盖了公园大部分山区地形。

Kenai Fjords National Park lies near Seward, on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. The park is known for its stunning fjords and glaciers, and for the abundant marine life that gathers in its waters, including orcas, sea lions, and puffins. It is a place where the sea, the ice and the mountains meet closely, and many visitors come to see all three in a single day.

What to expect

The landscape is shaped largely by ice. The Harding Icefield covers much of the park's mountainous terrain, and from the water many of the glaciers that flow from it can be seen reaching down toward the fjords. Because the park is so much a place of water, a boat trip is the most common way to explore it, and the wildlife is one of its main draws.

  • Fjords and glaciers: dramatic inlets and ice fields that define the park's scenery.
  • Marine life: orcas, sea lions and puffins, among other animals that frequent these waters.
  • Mountain terrain: much of the park is high, rugged country covered by the icefield.

Planning your visit

The park is based around Seward, a small town on the coast that serves as the gateway for visitors. Seward is a practical place to stay, eat and arrange your time in the park. For questions before you travel, the park can be reached by telephone at +1-907-422-0500. The park's address is 411 Washington St, Seward, AK 99664, which is a useful reference point for planning how to reach the town and the water.

If you enjoy wildlife, cold coastal scenery and the quiet of wide, remote country, Kenai Fjords makes a memorable visit. Plan your time around the water, since that is where much of the park's character is best seen.
