About

联合国教科文组织世界遗产地,展示了汉萨同盟时期色彩斑斓的木质建筑,可追溯至14世纪。

Bryggen is a UNESCO World Heritage site on the waterfront of Bergen, Norway, also known as the Hanseatic Wharf or Bergen Wharf. Its row of colourful wooden buildings stands along the harbour and is among the most recognisable sights in the city.

What you will see

The buildings date back to the 14th century and belong to the era of the Hanseatic League, the trading network that connected merchants across northern Europe. Walking along the wharf, you can see the steep gables and the layered timber fronts that have shaped the look of the quayside for centuries. The wooden architecture is the heart of the visit, and it is best seen slowly, from the water's edge and from the lanes behind the facades.

Planning your visit

  • Bryggen sits on the harbour in central Bergen, so it is easy to reach on foot from the rest of the city centre.
  • The site is outdoors and open to walkers, which makes it a good stop at any point in the day.
  • For details before you go, you can call the contact line at +47 55 55 20 80.

Because the wharf is part of a historic harbour district, it pairs well with a wander through the surrounding streets and a stop by the water. Visitors often combine it with other parts of the city centre, so that the old trading quarter becomes one part of a longer walk through Bergen.
