About

一座令人惊叹的17世纪宫殿堡垒,以其精美装饰的天花板和教育性铭文而闻名。由Imam Bil'arab bin Sultan于1675年建造,既是堡垒也是学习中心。

Jabreen Castle, also known as Jabrin Castle or Jabrin Palace, stands in the village of Jabreen in the Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate of Oman. It is a palace-fort, and visitors come to see how its builders combined defence with everyday living and study.

The castle was built in 1675 by Imam Bil'arab bin Sultan, who intended it as both a fort and a centre of learning. That double purpose shapes the visit. Rooms that feel like a residence sit alongside spaces that were used for teaching, and the building reads as a place where the ruler's household, his guards and his scholars all had a role.

What to look for

  • Decorated ceilings: the painted and carved ceilings are the castle's best-known feature and reward a slow walk through its rooms.
  • Educational inscriptions: the writing on the walls and ceilings points to the castle's role as a place of learning, and is worth reading if you can.
  • The fort itself: the thick walls and the layout of the building show its defensive origins.

Planning your visit

Jabreen is a village in the interior of Oman, so the castle makes a natural half-day outing for anyone exploring the Ad Dakhiliyah region. Allow time to walk through the rooms at an unhurried pace, since much of the interest lies in the detail overhead. For current visiting arrangements, you can call the castle on +968 25 420013 before you set out.
