The Almaty Region sits in the southeast of Kazakhstan, across Asia, and is the largest region in that part of the country. Its appeal lies in variety: within one administrative area the landscape moves from high mountains to lakes and wide steppe, so a visitor can cover a lot of ground without leaving the region.
What the landscape offers
