About

Camp John Hay is a former American military base in Baguio City, in the province of Benguet, Philippines. Its address is Loakan Road, Baguio City, Benguet 2600. The site has since been turned into a recreational and eco-tourism destination, and it is also known as the CJH or the Camp John Hay Forest Reserve.

What to expect

Much of the appeal lies in the setting. The grounds hold lush forest trails and pine forest ecosystems, so a visit suits anyone who wants to walk among trees rather than through busy streets. The area also has golf courses for those who want a round in the hills.

History is visible here too. Remnants of American colonial architecture still stand on the site, a reminder of its years as a military base. Visitors interested in that period will find the buildings a useful point of reference.

Planning a visit

  • Set aside time for the forest trails, which are the main draw for most visitors.
  • Look for the colonial-era buildings if you are interested in the site's past.
  • Check ahead by phone at +63 74 446 1114 before you travel, as this is the contact listed for the site.

Because the camp sits in Baguio City, it can easily be combined with other stops in the city during the same trip.
