About
Chandler is a city in Arizona, United States, and part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. It sits in the Sonoran Desert region of the American Southwest, close enough to Phoenix that many visitors use it as a base for exploring the wider valley.
What to expect
Chandler is a city rather than a single attraction, so a visit is best planned around what you want to do. Because it lies within the Phoenix metropolitan area, you can combine a stay here with time in the larger city and its surrounding communities.
- Arrive by car or through the Phoenix area's road network, which connects Chandler to neighbouring towns.
- Spend a day in the city itself, then make short trips to nearby Phoenix-area destinations.
- Plan for desert weather: the Arizona sun is strong, so pack water, sun protection and light clothing.
Known as the High Tech Oasis
Chandler is also called the High Tech Oasis, a name that reflects its character as a modern city within the desert landscape. For visitors, this gives a contrast between the dry Arizona setting and the planned, contemporary feel of the place.
If you are considering a visit, Chandler suits travellers who want a practical base in the Phoenix area and an easy way to reach the desert country beyond the city.
