About
El Salto del Limón is a waterfall in the mountains of the Samaná Peninsula, in the Samaná Province of the Dominican Republic. Also known as the Limón Waterfall, it drops about 50 metres and is one of the best-known natural sights on the peninsula.
What to expect
The falls sit in lush, green mountain country, and the setting is as much part of the visit as the water itself. Most visitors reach the falls in one of two ways: on horseback, or on foot along a hiking trail that winds through tropical vegetation. The ride or walk is a good way to take in the forest and the landscape on the way up.

Because the route passes through forest and open mountain ground, it suits visitors who enjoy being outdoors and who are comfortable with some walking or riding. Those who want a quieter day in nature will find the setting well suited to it.
Samaná itself is known for its coastline and countryside, so a visit to El Salto del Limón can easily be combined with time spent elsewhere on the peninsula.
