About
Calle Crisologo, also known as Crisologo Street, is a cobblestone street in Vigan City, in the province of Ilocos Sur in the Philippines. It is the best-known street in Vigan and sits at the heart of the town's UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What you will see
The street is lined with well-preserved Spanish colonial houses and ancestral homes. Their facades and older structures give a clear sense of how the town was built during its colonial period, and walking along the stones feels like stepping back into that setting.
Why visit
- It is the most recognisable street in Vigan, and the easiest place to begin exploring the old town.
- The historic houses are best seen on foot, at an unhurried pace.
- It serves as the centre of the heritage area, so other sites in the old town are close by.
Planning your visit
The cobblestones are uneven, so comfortable shoes are a sensible choice. Because the street is a working part of the old town rather than a closed exhibit, it suits a relaxed stroll rather than a timed tour. Set aside time to wander side streets as well, since the surrounding area adds to the historic character of the visit.
