About

Chief conductor Fabio Luisi leads the DR Symphony Orchestra in an all-Brahms programme at DR Koncerthuset (Koncertsalen) in Copenhagen on 5 and 6 November 2026.

Chief conductor Fabio Luisi, celebrated for his authoritative interpretations of Brahms, leads the DR Symphony Orchestra in a programme devoted entirely to the composer. The evening opens with Arnold Schoenberg's orchestral transcription of Brahms' Piano Quartet in G minor — a work Schoenberg undertook because he felt the piano overpowered the strings in the original chamber version. The result is a full symphonic canvas that stands as its own significant work, fusing the voices of two musical geniuses.

The concert culminates with Brahms' Symphony No. 4, his final symphonic statement — a deeply personal meditation on mortality, melancholy, and creative defiance. In Luisi's hands, the work reveals its many layers with a rare balance of intellectual clarity and emotional depth.

The programme is performed on two consecutive evenings (5 and 6 November 2026) in the Koncertsalen at DR Koncerthuset.
