About

Brazo del Sognefjord que cuenta con el famoso mirador de Stegastein y sirve como puerta de entrada a Flåm. Conocido por sus montañas espectaculares y la terminal del Ferrocarril de Flåm.

Aurlandsfjord is a branch of the larger Sognefjord in western Norway, and it is the water that frames the village of Flåm. Steep mountains rise close on both sides of the fjord, so a visit here is largely about looking up, along the water, and across to the slopes.

What the fjord offers

  • Dramatic mountains that come right down to the water's edge
  • The Stegastein viewpoint, a platform that projects out over the fjord and gives a high view of the valley below
  • The Flåm Railway terminus, where the scenic line ends in the village

Stegastein is the most widely known point to reach from here. It offers a wide view down the fjord and makes a good place to pause, whether you are arriving by boat or on foot.

Getting there and around

Aurlandsfjord is the gateway to Flåm, so the village is the natural base for exploring it. The Flåm Railway ends here, which makes the arrival itself part of the experience for many travellers. Because the area is defined by its landscape, plan to spend time outdoors and bring clothing suited to changeable weather in the mountains.
