About

Bol is a village on the southern coast of Brač, one of the larger islands in Croatia's Dalmatian archipelago in the Adriatic Sea. It is a small, traditional fishing settlement set against the hills, and it is best known for the beach that lies just beside it.

Zlatni Rat

The village's most famous feature is Zlatni Rat, or Golden Horn, a long pebbled beach whose distinctive triangular shape shifts with the tides and winds. Its outline is never quite the same from one day to the next, so a second visit can look different from the first. The water here is clear, and the beach suits a relaxed day by the sea as well as more active time on the waves.

Water sports and the sea

  • The conditions around Bol are well suited to windsurfing, which draws many visitors who come specifically for the sport.
  • The crystal-clear Adriatic waters make swimming and time spent on the shore especially pleasant.
  • Those who prefer quieter days can simply settle on the beach and watch the sea and the shifting shape of the bay.

The village itself

Away from the beach, Bol keeps its traditional Dalmatian stone architecture, and its harbour and streets give a sense of the island's fishing past. The mix of easy days by the water and time spent wandering the village makes Bol a restful place to stay, whether for a few hours or for a longer break on Brač.
