About

Una casa noble única del siglo XV famosa por su fachada decorada con más de 600 bloques de granito en forma de pirámide. Actualmente alberga la Escuela de Arte de Segovia.

Casa de los Picos, also known as the House of Peaks, is a 15th-century noble house in the centre of Segovia, in Castile and León. It stands at Calle Juan Bravo, 2, a short walk from the city's historic core, and it is best known for its facade, which is covered with pyramid-shaped blocks of granite.

The facade

The building's exterior is decorated with more than 600 granite blocks, each cut into a point. Together they give the wall a textured, faceted look that sets it apart from the stone and brick of the surrounding streets. Visitors often stop in front of it simply to look at the pattern, which changes in tone as the light moves across the day.

What it is today

The house is now home to the Segovia School of Art, so its rooms are used for teaching and creative work rather than as a display of domestic life. This makes it a useful stop for anyone interested in how an older building has been put to new use. The main reason to visit is the facade itself, which can be appreciated from the street.

Around the house

  • The address places it in the old town, where you can combine it with other sights on foot.
  • Segovia's historic centre is compact, so a short visit fits easily into a wider day.
  • The building suits a relaxed, unhurried visit, especially for those who enjoy architecture and Spanish urban history.

Casa de los Picos is a good choice for a visitor who wants a distinctive piece of 15th-century architecture within easy reach of the rest of the city.
