About

Puente histórico de piedra que conecta la Ciudad Vieja y la Ciudad Pequeña de Prague, famoso por sus estatuas barrocas y artistas callejeros. Construido en el siglo XIV bajo el reinado del Rey Charles IV.

Charles Bridge (Karlův most in Czech) is a historic stone bridge in Prague, in the Czech Republic's Bohemia region. It crosses the Vltava River, linking the Old Town with the Lesser Town on the other bank. The bridge is easy to find at Karlův most, 110 00 Praha 1, and it is one of the best-known monuments in the city.

What to see on the bridge

The bridge is lined with baroque statues, which give the walk a sculptural character from one end to the other. Street artists and vendors also gather along it, so the crossing often feels lively, with painters, musicians and stalls adding to the setting.

Why it makes a worthwhile visit

Built in the 14th century under King Charles IV, the bridge is a physical link to Prague's medieval past. Walking across it lets you take in the river, the old towers at each end and the rooftops of the two historic districts it joins. It is best approached on foot, and it works well as a starting point for exploring either side of the river.

  • Stroll the full length, stopping at the statues that interest you.
  • Look out over the Vltava in both directions.
  • Continue into the Old Town or up into the Lesser Town after crossing.

Charles Bridge suits anyone who wants to combine history, sculpture and everyday street life in one walk. Plan some time for it, and allow more for the districts around it.
