About

Une arche naturelle en pierre formée par des siècles d'érosion, accessible par un court sentier de randonnée de 1,3 mile aller-retour. L'une des formations rocheuses les plus populaires et les plus accessibles du parc.

Arch Rock is a natural stone arch in Joshua Tree National Park, in southern California. The arch was shaped over a long period by erosion, and it stands as one of the most familiar rock formations in the park. It is also known as Natural Arch.

What to expect

The arch is reached by a short hiking trail of about 1.3 miles round trip, which makes it a manageable outing for most visitors. The route passes through the granite boulders that define much of the park's landscape, and the arch itself is the destination. Because it is one of the park's more accessible formations, it tends to draw a steady stream of visitors, so arriving at a quieter time may suit anyone hoping for some solitude.

Getting there

Arch Rock is near the White Tank Campground, which is the address to use for navigation. The trailhead sits within the park, so a visit fits naturally into a wider day among Joshua Tree's rock piles, desert scrub and the namesake Joshua trees.

For a visitor weighing a stop, Arch Rock offers a brief walk with a clear reward: a close look at a sculpted stone opening in an open desert setting. It suits a short visit as well as a longer day spent exploring the park.
