About

Un point de vue populaire au sommet d'une colline au-dessus de Monterosso offrant des vues panoramiques sur le littoral, les vignobles en terrasses et la mer Ligure turquoise en contrebas. Accessible par le sentier de randonnée côtier.

The Belvedere di Monterosso is a hilltop viewpoint above the village of Monterosso al Mare, in the Cinque Terre on the Ligurian coast of Italy. It is also known as the Monterosso Scenic Overlook. The lookout sits in the province of La Spezia and is reached from the village by the coastal hiking trail.

What you will see

From the top, the view takes in the coastline stretching away from the village, the terraced vineyards that climb the slopes of the Cinque Terre, and the turquoise waters of the Ligurian Sea below. The terraces are a reminder of how much of this landscape has been shaped by hand over generations, and they give the view its particular character.

What kind of visit it makes

  • A short walk up from the village, best suited to those who enjoy being on foot
  • A quiet place to pause and look out over the sea and the hillsides
  • A natural stop on a longer day of walking along the coast

Because the viewpoint is reached on foot, it suits visitors who are comfortable with some uphill walking. Sturdy shoes and water are sensible for the climb, particularly in warm weather.

Around the viewpoint

Monterosso al Mare is the largest of the five villages of the Cinque Terre and has a sandy beach and an old town to explore before or after the climb. The wider Cinque Terre area is known for its coastal paths, its villages set along the cliffs, and its local wine and seafood, so the lookout fits naturally into a day spent exploring the area.
