About

Piscine naturelle aux eaux cristallines avec balançoires à corde et possibilités de saut de falaise, entourée de formations karstiques calcaires.

The Blue Lagoon is a natural swimming hole in Ban Na Thong, a short way from the town of Vang Vieng in Vientiane Province, Laos. It is also known as the Nam Song Blue Lagoon. The water is clear and calm, and the lagoon sits among the limestone karst formations that give this part of Laos its distinctive scenery.

What to expect

Most visitors come to swim. The water is a good place to cool off after a day of walking or riding around the area, and the surrounding cliffs make a striking backdrop. The lagoon is also known for its rope swings and cliff-jumping spots, so it suits people who want something more active than a quiet dip.

  • Swimming in clear, natural water
  • Rope swings over the lagoon
  • Cliff jumping from the rock faces
  • Views of the surrounding limestone karst

Planning your visit

The lagoon is reached from Vang Vieng, which makes it easy to combine with a stay in the town. Because it is a natural site rather than a managed attraction, conditions can depend on the season and the water level, so it is worth checking the current situation before you set out. Bring water, sun protection and something dry to change into. Take care when jumping from the cliffs and rope swings, and only jump where you can see the water is deep and clear of obstacles.
