About

Un parc côtier offrant des plages immaculées, des récifs coralliens et des forêts tropicales, incluant la célèbre île Saona Island.

Cotubanamá National Park lies in La Romana Province on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. It is also known as Parque Nacional del Este, and it covers a stretch of coast where beaches, coral reefs and tropical forest meet the sea.

What the park offers

The park is best known for its beaches, which visitors come to for a day of swimming and quiet time by the water. Offshore, coral reefs add interest for those who enjoy snorkelling and looking at marine life. Inland and along the coast, tropical forest gives the landscape a green, shaded character that contrasts with the sand and sea.

Saona Island, one of the park's most widely visited areas, is part of this coastal setting and is often the reason travellers include the park in their plans.

Planning a visit

  • Set aside a full day if you want to combine beach time with reef and forest areas.
  • Bring water, sun protection and anything you need for snorkelling.
  • To check current information before you travel, you can call the park on +1-809-472-4204.

La Romana itself is the nearest base, so travellers can arrange their stay in the city and travel out to the park for the day. Those who prefer a quieter pace will find the coastline and forest a relaxed change from town life.
