It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it brings together two kinds of heritage in one place: medieval Islamic architecture on the plain and ancient Hindu temples on the hill.

What you will see

The site holds palaces, mosques, tombs and fortifications, with the built remains dating from the 8th to the 14th centuries. Walking among the monuments gives a clear sense of how the town and its surroundings were shaped over several centuries.

  • Medieval Islamic architecture on the lower ground, including mosques, tombs and palace structures
  • Fortifications that show how the settlement was protected
  • Ancient Hindu temples on Pavagadh Hill, reached above the plain
